If you are upgrading from Journal Version 1.0, 2.0 or 2.1 all you have to do is copy Journal.Exe and Journal.Hlp to your Journal directory. Version 2.2 is totally compatible with all previous version files.
If you are installing Journal for the first time, installation instructions are contained in the first part of the manual.
If you are using Journal with Program Manager as the shell, configure the "working directory" as your Journal directory. If you are not using Program Manager as the shell, it is important to use a shell which permits setting the startup directory. Journal needs to know the startup directory, this is where all data and configuration files must be located. The Journal directory does not need to be on the path, in fact, it is probably safer not to put it on the path.
Please remember: the Journal data file structure is important to keep intact. Do not modify any of these files with another program
Version 2.1:
- Corrects two bugs that prevented the Clipboard transfer functions (DaliyClp) to work properly.
- Adds the capability to copy a category to file without removing it from Journal. This works the same as Remove to file except the Category is not removed from Journal.
- Adds the capability to completely Kill a category, including all the disk files.
Version 2.2:
- Correct a bug in the manner in which the data was stored to disk which could lead to contaminating the data base.
